We are often asked by our customers and tour operators - Why should I dive with Pro Dive Cairns? Looking at the many dive brochures most options look alike.
Pro Dive Cairns have always maintained the policy that the price should be the price, and there should be no hidden cost involved. All courses and trips are value added to ensure every customer gets the best possible value for money.
- Reef Teach: This is a two and a half hour Marine Biology presentation which enhances a passengers Great Barrier Reef Experience. Most reef operators recommend the presentation and the cost is normally $12.00 per person to attend. Pro Dive Cairns include this in all of their dive options.
- Equipment: All equipment means all equipment, even a dive computer for each diver. The computer keeps an accurate record of each dive done as well as providing longer dive times. If you were to hire a computer you can be charged as much as $20 per person per day.
- Wetsuits: Pro Dive Cairns are the only operators who provide long leg wetsuits. It is not only warmer in the winter months, but also prevents students from cutting and grazing their legs on the coral.
- Reef Tax: This is a Government charge, which enables the marine parks to maintain and protect the Great Barrier Reef. The cost is $4 per day per person, which amounts to $12 for a 3 day trip. Pro Dive Cairns include this charge in all dive options, it is not added on extra.
- Passenger Numbers: "Kalinda" and "Scubapro" are surveyed to carry 25 and 32 passengers. Other liveaboard vessels from Cairns carry many more. The smaller numbers mean fewer people in the water and adds a more remote exclusive feel to the diving.
- Twin Cabins: Both of the Pro Dive vessels have twin cabins, these are available at no extra cost to our customers
- Boat Transfers: Some of the liveaboard vessels stay out at the reef permanently and use transfer/day boats to ferry passengers on a daily basis. We believe that this limits a vessels movement, reduces the atmosphere from the group, restricts dive times and may even reduce the overall maintenance of the vessel. With Pro Dive Cairns, the vessel you board is the vessel you stay on, with the same crew and passengers for the duration of the trip.
- Class And Group Sizes: Pro Dive Cairns have a policy of a maximum of 8 students per instructor in the ocean and 10 per instructor in the pool, it is often less than this. The smaller numbers allows for increased safety as well as more personalised tuition.
- Batteries And Safety Light Sticks: These are two items required for night diving. Some companies may charge you extra for these.
- Accommodation Transfers: Transfers are included as a courtesy each day. They are available from Cairns and the northern beaches of Cairns at no extra cost. If you are staying at Port Douglas a small charge is applicable.
- Reef Locations And Dive Sites: We visit 2 sometimes 4 different Outer Great Barrier Reefs rarely visited by other vessels and without pontoons. Spread over these reefs there are 16 exclusive sites. This means that we change dive sites every 2 to 3 dives giving you the best diving possible.
- Passport Photos: With every dive certification passport photos are required. We will take these for you free on the first day of your course. These normally cost $5 to $10.
- Stationery: Students do not need to bring with them notepaper and pens as Pro Dive Cairns will supply all stationary needs.
- Course Manuals: With each course Pro Dive Cairns include a PADI Course manual for each student to keep. Languages provided: English, German, French, Dutch or Danish.
- Insurance: We include comprehensive dive insurance for all customers participating in a Pro Dive trip or course. This policy normally costs $21 per person
- Training Centre: Our purpose built diving centre features Cairns deepest diver training pool, this enables students to get comfortable in deeper water before diving in the open ocean.
- Cancellation: With the Learn to Dive course we have a full refund policy up until the end of day 1 of the course for whatever the reason (e.g. failed medical or simply not comfortable in the water).
- German Courses: We provide two German courses each week, with German speaking instructor, manuals and exams.
- Dive Medicals: Our training centre features its own on-site medical examination room. This enables us to conduct the compulsory medical quickly without commuting students to/from the medical centres in the city.
- Vessel Quality: 2 out of the 4 trips are onboard the best outer reef liveaboard vessel in Cairns - "Scubapro" these departure days are Thursdays and Sundays in conjunction with the German speaking staff.
- Rusty Divers: Refresher courses are available to Pro Dive passengers prior to trip departure.
We are also really nice people.
